Ritz-Carlton Evrima Review: Where a Luxury Hotel Meets Life at Sea

Some vacations become a pleasant collection of photographs. Others quietly redefine what luxury travel can feel like. For us, sailing aboard Ritz-Carlton Evrima was the latter.

The Ritz Carlton yacht Evrima, anchored off Portofino, Italy.

Each morning began with coffee on our private terrace as another stretch of Mediterranean coastline slowly emerged from the horizon. By afternoon, we were wandering the pastel harbors of Portofino and Saint Tropez, sipping wine in Tuscany, or touring the glamorous Monte Carlo casino. By evening, we’d return to a floating boutique hotel where every detail—from chilled champagne waiting in our suite to crew members greeting us by name—felt effortlessly orchestrated.

After seven nights aboard Evrima, my husband and I stepped ashore back in Nice convinced we’d experienced something fundamentally different from a traditional cruise.

This wasn’t simply transportation between extraordinary destinations. It became one of the destinations itself—a floating Ritz-Carlton hotel that just happens to sail some of the world’s most beautiful coastlines.

If you’re wondering whether Ritz-Carlton’s first luxury yacht lives up to the reputation of its hotels, or whether it’s worth the considerable investment—here’s my honest review.

Is Ritz-Carlton Evrima Worth It?

If you value intimate luxury, exceptional service, beautifully designed surroundings, and itineraries that prioritize extraordinary destinations over onboard spectacle, then yes—Evrima is absolutely worth it..

The daily rate breaks down to around $1,000 – $3,600+ per person per day. You’re getting the Ritz standard of exceptional service, cleanliness, and personalized courtesy. The spacious well-appointed suites all have outdoor terraces; they’re tidied twice a day. Everything—most wine, beer, premium liquors, and food (including in-room) is included. The smaller ship means your itinerary includes ports the larger ships can’t access.

By the Numbers

Launched in 2022, Evrima—Greek for discovery—is the flagship yacht of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

At 190 meters long and carrying a maximum of just 298 guests across 149 all-suite accommodations, the scale is dramatically different from traditional cruise ships. During our sailing, occupancy was around 80%, making the atmosphere feel even more intimate.

The result is an experience that feels remarkably calm.

The Atmosphere On Board Evrima

With a max guest count of 298 (and 246 crew), Evrima feels remarkably civilized. There are no crowded atriums, no lines for elevators, and no sense of constantly competing for space. Instead, the yacht has the relaxed confidence of a beautifully designed Ritz-Carlton hotel that just happens to glide from one remarkable destination to the next.

The atmosphere follows suit. The official dress code is “Yacht Casual,” with the Evrima Room elevating to “Yacht Sophisticated” for dinner. While there were a few guests who interpreted “casual” rather generously, most embraced the occasion. Linen dresses, tailored separates, elegant resort wear, designer handbags, and well-cut jackets were the norm rather than the exception. Dressing for dinner wasn’t about showing off—it simply felt like part of the experience.

Our Mediterranean Itinerary

Choosing an itinerary may be the hardest decision you’ll make.

Evrima sails throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean, with itineraries focused on smaller ports that many larger cruise ships can’t access.

For our first (and hopefully not last) cruise, we chose a seven-night voyage beginning and ending in Nice, France, with stops in:

  • Elba
  • Livorno (gateway to Tuscany)
  • Portofino
  • Saint-Tropez
  • Monte Carlo

With tours/offshore time in the morning to mid-afternoon, we were able to balance exploration of these iconic destinations with time to relax and enjoy some of the amenities on the yacht.

First Impressions

Embarkation was our first indication that this wouldn’t resemble any cruise we’d taken before.

Instead of long lines and crowded terminals, we arrived to find only a handful of couples enjoying champagne beneath an elegant welcome tent. Our luggage disappeared into capable hands while a staff member personally guided us through check-in before escorting us aboard.

Within minutes we were meeting our suite ambassadors, Jeremy and Raymond, who introduced us to our room and explained the yacht’s amenities before leaving us to settle in.

Waiting on the table was a bottle of Moët & Chandon resting on ice.

My husband and I looked at one another across the room and silently mouthed the same two words:

“Holy…shit.”

Before we’d even finished celebrating, Jeremy and Raymond were back with our luggage—and asking whether we’d like them to unpack everything for us. Wow.

We politely declined, mostly because we wanted a few quiet moments to absorb where we were. That champagne cork was popped, and we stepped onto our private terrace, and took in the views of Nice. We were perfectly positioned to do some people watching, as the embarkation process was within view. When I’d unpacked and organized, and our arrival nerves had been tempered by the champagne, we headed out to explore the ship.

The vacation had officially begun.

What Makes Evrima Different From a Traditional Cruise?

This is probably the question I receive most often.

The simplest answer?

Evrima doesn’t feel like a cruise ship.

It feels like checking into an exceptionally beautiful Ritz-Carlton hotel that moves with you. There are no booming announcements over loudspeakers. No buffet lines, casinos, or water slides.

Instead, the pace encourages lingering.

In-suite or in the restaurants, breakfast stretches into late morning over ocean views. Afternoons are for exploring remarkable ports or relaxing aboard the yacht. Cocktails flow naturally into dinner, followed by live music in the Observation Lounge or a quiet nightcap beneath the stars on your own terrace.

Luxury here isn’t defined by extravagance.

It’s defined by ease.

The Terrace Suite Experience

Every suite aboard Evrima includes a private terrace, and I genuinely can’t imagine experiencing this voyage without one.

Ours quickly became our favorite place on the yacht.

Morning coffee and freshly baked croissants overlooking a new coastline became a cherished ritual. Evenings often ended exactly where they began, outside on our terrace, with a glass of champagne and the soothing rhythm of the sea beyond the railing.

One particularly memorable night, we watched lightning illuminate distant storm clouds while silver flashes danced across the Mediterranean. Although they were lighting up the sky and we could see rain pouring down, our own path through the ocean remained calm and relatively dry.

It was mesmerizing.

Inside, the suite reflects Ritz-Carlton’s understated aesthetic beautifully. Soft neutrals, rich wood finishes, polished chrome accents, and thoughtfully integrated storage create an atmosphere that feels posh and residential.

Every detail—from Frette linens and Diptyque amenities to perfectly placed outlets and dimmable lighting—demonstrates Ritz-Carlton’s meticulous attention to detail.

Want more details? I’m sharing a complete suite tour, amenities, and why the smallest suite class never feels like a compromise in the dedicated guide Inside a Ritz Carlton Evrima Terrace Suite.

Dining on Evrima

Dining aboard Evrima consistently exceeded our expectations.

Five distinct venues offer enough variety that dinner never feels repetitive, while menus change every three days and always include feature dishes that reflect regional ingredients and seasonal specialties.

Our personal favorite restaurants were Evrima Room, Mistral, and The Pool House.

The cuisine at every venue is refined without feeling pretentious, beautifully presented without sacrificing flavor, and supported by service that feels both polished and genuinely warm. If Ritz-Carlton ever publishes an Evrima cookbook, I’ll be first in line to buy it.

As an interior decorator, I found myself equally captivated by the surroundings. Each space has its own design language, yet together they create a remarkably cohesive yacht that feels sophisticated, relaxed, and unmistakably Ritz-Carlton.

At Mistral, Ginori porcelain, shell-etched flatware, sculptural glass lamps, and panoramic Mediterranean views created a dining room I’d happily recreate at home.

Indulge in the details: I’m also be sharing a dedicated restaurant guide with our favorite dishes, wines, and dining recommendations in the post Dining on Evrima.

Life On Board

One of Evrima’s greatest strengths is its atmosphere.

The Observation Lounge transforms throughout the day, offering panoramic ocean views by morning before becoming the yacht’s social heart after sunset. At any hour, this is a chic retreat, defined by a large bar and clusters of sleek, modern white furniture for socializing and relaxing.

The Living Room feels exactly as its name suggests—a sophisticated residential lounge with thoughtfully arranged seating. Bookshelves house best sellers and travel guides. Coffee, fresh pastries, and light bites are available in the cafe, which also offers afternoon tea service. High-end versions of classic board games like backgammon and Yahtzee are on hand as design elements and social opportunities. Cocktail hour features mixologist-level drinks from the intimate bar and live music that encourages conversation rather than creating a spectacle.

Even the pools and whirlpools, smaller in size in line with the rest of the ship, are designed to feel like you’re on a private yacht. And they rarely felt crowded.

The yacht’s signature Marina platform became one of our favorite experiences, allowing guests to swim directly in the Mediterranean and enjoy paddle boards, the floating platform with integrated seating and lounge areas, and that crystal-clear water. Just off the back of the yacht itself.

Throughout every public space, the design philosophy remains remarkably consistent.

Nothing shouts for attention.

Instead, beautiful materials, calming palettes, abundant natural light, and impeccable proportions allow the surrounding sea to remain the true centerpiece.

Each evening, our suite ambassadors left the next day’s itinerary waiting in our room—a thoughtful ritual outlining the upcoming port, onboard programming, and special events, from yoga and wine tastings to live music and cooking demonstrations with Michelin-starred chef Sven Elverfeld.

Service That Sets the Standard

If there is one aspect of Evrima that deserves universal praise, it’s the people.

Everyone— EVERYONE— is a shining example of the Ritz Carlton level of service. From stewards and the other crew we passed in the halls, to bar tenders and passing waitstaff. Everyone made eye contact, smiled, and greeted us.

Our suite ambassadors, Jeremy and Raymond, transformed our suite into an anniversary celebration complete with flowers, rose petals, gold butterflies, and even a “Happy Anniversary” banner, after learning we were partly on the cruise to celebrate 5 years of marriage that month.

Arun, a host at Evrima Room, gets a special mention of gratitude for ushering us into the more private, quiet dining area when I said I was ready to spend some time away from people.

Iljio, restaurant manager at Evrima Room, soaked up every word (and we had a few) when he stopped by to ask how we were enjoying our meal. He was part of the staff lined up to say goodbye to guests on disembarkation, and jumped out so quickly when he saw us, to take my big Chanel bag and carry it off the ship behind me.

We made fast friends with servers Gede, Henry, and Mawia at Mistral. Gede especially was so sweet and the very definition of “service with a smile.”

Gavin the sommelier took extra time chatting with Mark about regional wines, which, considering how busy he was, felt very special.

Mariana on Deck 4 with guest/destination services was so kind and so patient with getting everyone to the tenders and off the yacht for excursions. She answers all silly first-timer questions with a no-judgement smile.

Hana was everywhere, at all hours, all around the ship restaurants. She is so quick to assist—with wit, humor, and charm on the side.

These weren’t grand gestures.

They were thoughtful ones.

Those are the kinds of gestures that are easy to overlook because they’re woven so seamlessly into the experience. But it’s exactly that quiet consistency, repeated dozens of times each day by every member of the crew, that makes life aboard Evrima feel so effortless.

Why Evrima Feels So Effortless

The greatest luxury isn’t the champagne. Or the marble bathrooms. It isn’t even waking each morning somewhere new.

It was never having to think about logistics.

Dinner reservations happened seamlessly.

Tender operations are organized with remarkable efficiency.

Our preferences were remembered before we voiced them again.

Returning from shore each afternoon felt less like boarding a ship and more like coming home to a favorite hotel.

That quiet confidence—the sense that every detail has already been anticipated—is what ultimately defines the experience.

Is Ritz-Carlton Evrima Right for You?

If your ideal vacation revolves around exceptional food, beautifully designed spaces, personalized service, and exploring remarkable destinations at an unhurried pace, I suspect you’ll love Evrima as much as we did.

If you’re looking for Broadway-style entertainment, casinos, water parks, or nonstop activity, this probably isn’t the right fit.

Evrima is intentionally quieter.

More intimate.

More refined.

It’s designed for travelers who appreciate lingering over dinner, wandering historic streets, and ending each day somewhere that feels every bit as special as the destination itself.

For us, it was a splurge that felt entirely worthwhile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is alcohol included?

Yes, with a few very high-end exceptions.

Is there a dress code?

Yacht Casual is appropriate everywhere but have fun and dress up for dinners—especially at Evrima Room, which does require pants (not shorts) for dinner service. There is a sign informing you of dress code details at the entrance.

Are gratuities included?

Yes, but tipping is always appreciated for over-and-above service. We tipped a few of the crew we’d interacted with multiple times on our last day. The suite ambassadors work tirelessly and we were so appreciative of our anniversary decoration. We tipped them when they came to usher us off the yacht on the last day.

Is WiFi good?

Yes. Seamless. There is an app available while you’re on the cruise. They show you how to set it up on embarkation day. You can see the day’s activities, manage reservations, book excursions, and there’s a map of the yacht (but since it’s smaller, you figure it out fairly quickly).

Are children onboard?

We only saw one. There is a dedicated space for children (Ritz kids), but I would say if you can, leave the kids at home for this caliber of cruise.

Can you board early?

Ritz Carlton sends an email with details on embarkation. For disembarkation, you fill out a form, and receive confirmation of your allotted time. Everything is smooth and there are no long lines to get on or off the yacht.

Is there self-service laundry?

Yes—on Deck 9. Complimentary washers, dryers, detergent, irons, and steamers are available. There is also full-service valet for laundry, dry-cleaning, and pressing for additional fees.

Is seasickness a problem?

It wasn’t for us. Evrima is smaller than the average cruise ship, but she’s still a large vessel. You don’t feel the swells very much.

Do you need excursions?

You need to get off and explore your destinations, but you don’t “need” to book tours, etc. to enjoy yourself. I booked excursions for Elba and a day in Tuscany from Livorno independently. I booked excursions offered by Ritz Carlton in Livorno and Monte Carlo. We had no official tours and explored at our own pace in Portofino and Saint Tropez (although we did join the Ritz Carlton beach club soiree in the evening in Ramatuelle). I thought it was a good mix.

Which restaurants require reservations?

You make restaurant reservations for dinner every evening on your first day aboard. You can change them throughout the trip, but they like to get you scheduled.

Is Evrima all-inclusive?

Yes. With a few very high-end beverage exceptions, and the restaurant experience S.E.A.

How many passengers are onboard?

With 149 suites, assuming double occupancy, that would be 298. Our sailing, at 80% occupancy, means there were probably closer to 240 (not including crew).

Is the Marina worth it?

Yes! Get in that ocean!

The Last Morning

On our final morning, Nespresso coffees in hand, we stood quietly on our terrace, watching Nice slowly come to life, and observing the preparations for disembarkation below us.

Seven days earlier, we’d stepped aboard feeling slightly overwhelmed by the idea of sailing on a Ritz-Carlton yacht.

We stepped off feeling something entirely different.

Not like passengers being herded off a cruise, but more like guests reluctantly checking out of one of the finest boutique hotels we’d ever experienced.

If your favorite vacations revolve around lingering over remarkable meals, discovering extraordinary places, and returning each evening to surroundings that are every bit as memorable as the destinations themselves, Evrima offers all of that and more.

Evrima doesn’t simply carry you from one remarkable destination to the next. Somewhere along the way, it quietly becomes one of the destinations you’ll remember most.
