October has arrived — and I decided to combine my love of elevated Halloween decor and entertaining. I hosted an elegant Halloween craft night for adults.
As guests entered through the secret wardrobe and stepped inside my studio atelier, they found everything set up for a Spooky Craft Night. This intimate party features pearl-embellished ghost art, simple seasonal bites, and just enough candlelight to make it feel atmospheric.
If you’ve been looking for Halloween party ideas that feel elevated — not plastic — this is one worth recreating.

Elegant Halloween Decor Craft: Supplies
- Vintage-style gold frames (see my DIY vintage frame tutorial here)
- Black linen-textured cardstock (5×7)
- Bright white cardstock
- Ghost templates: One – Two – Three
- Black oval rhinestones (for eyes)
- Flat-back pearl assortment (multiple sizes for dimension)
- Additional large-size flat back pearls if you’re shopping for a group
- Aleene’s Liquid Fusion Glue
- Mini nail polish bottles for glue: easier for guests to paint glue + many people can be working at once.
- Elmer’s Rubber Cement
- Precision Tweezers
- Paper cutter (highly recommended)
If you’re hosting for a group, pre-cut the cardstock and pre-print the templates to streamline the evening.

Step-by-Step Pearl Ghost Tutorial
- Cut black cardstock to fit your frame (5×7 works beautifully).
- Print and cut your ghost template on white cardstock.
- Adhere the ghost to the black background using rubber cement.
- Attach rhinestone eyes.
- Outline the ghost shape with larger pearls.
- Fill in the interior using mixed pearl sizes for texture.
- Work in small glue sections to prevent premature drying.
You truly can’t get this wrong — organic placement makes each piece unique.

Framing Tip for your Pearl Ghosts
Remove the backing and glass from your frame.
Place your finished pearl ghost art inside — then return the glass behind it. The glass creates a supportive backing and adds subtle weight.
Secure the frame.
Your elegant Halloween decor is complete.

A Note on Craft Nights
This was my first seasonal craft night in the atelier — and it certainly won’t be the last.
There’s something deeply satisfying about gathering women around a long table, pouring a glass of wine, and creating something beautiful with your hands.
We’re already planning our next one for the holidays — think paper stars, candlelight, and velvet ribbon everywhere.

A Spooky Bonus: The Craft Night Menu

The best gatherings are remembered as much for the atmosphere as for the craft itself — so I kept the menu simple, nostalgic, and just thematic enough to feel special.
Grilled cheese on Italian bread (Kraft slices, just like my dad still makes when I go home) cut into coffin shapes for the occasion. Comfort food — but styled for the season.
For ease, I ordered Panera’s “Soup for a Group” — one tomato and one autumn squash — and served them in small cups for casual sipping between glue sessions.
The salad was a simple mix of baby greens, roasted beets, goat cheese, chopped pistachios, and fig balsamic. Balanced. Autumnal. Uncomplicated.
And yes — the stuffed peppers were a hit.
Nothing overly elaborate. Just thoughtful.

Hosting Tip: Timing Is Everything
Set the goal to have everything staged at least 20 minutes before guests arrive.
Drinks out first. Food ready. Craft supplies arranged.
That way, if you’re still fluffing a pillow or lighting a candle when the door opens, guests can pour a drink and settle in without stress.
An elegant Halloween decor craft night should feel relaxed — not rushed.

Seasonal decor is more meaningful when it’s made — especially when it’s made together.
If you’ve been craving Halloween party ideas that feel creative but not chaotic, hosting a seasonal craft night may become your new favorite tradition.
