DIY Anthropologie Dresser Dupe

How to Recreate the Enchantment Look for Less

Anthropologie’s “Enchantment” dresser is a statement piece — layered botanical appliqué, soft white finish, and romantic dimension. It has spawned duplicates, like this one on Wayfair.

I am thrilled to share how I created this Anthropologie dresser dupe for my client!

It’s also priced between $1,600 and $4,000.

This client’s version? Under $350.

Here’s how to recreate the Anthropologie dresser dupe using resin molds, thoughtful placement, and a professional finish.

A thrifted dresser gets an Anthropologie-inspired makeover in this step-by-step tutorial.

Step 1 | Choose & Prep Your Dresser

Original Anthro dresser

Start with solid wood furniture in good structural condition.

Remove hardware.
Clean thoroughly with TSP or degreasing cleaner.
Sand lightly if needed.

If repairs are required, complete them before priming:

This foundation determines your final finish quality.

Step 2 | Prime & Drill Hardware Holes

Prime using a high-adhesion primer. Spray primer offers fast coverage, especially on detailed pieces. I use Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 spray paint primer.

Once primed:

  • Mark and drill new hardware holes
  • Install hardware before arranging resin pieces

This prevents design interference later and ensures symmetry.

A cabinet hardware jig like this King & Charles Cabinet Hardware Jig saves time and ensures alignment.

Step 3 | Cast Resin Appliqués

To achieve the dimensional floral look of the Anthropologie dresser, use silicone molds and two-part casting resin. Amazing Casting Resin is a solid performer.

The exact silicone molds I used: “Winter Blooms” “In the Garden” “Leafy Blossoms” and “Aviary” from Re-Design with Prima. “Blossom” mold from IOD.

Mix equal parts resin A + B.
Stir until clear.
Pour immediately.

Work in small batches — resin sets quickly.

Trim excess while pliable for cleaner edges.

Step 4 | Arrange Your Design

Before gluing:

Lay out all resin pieces on the dresser surface.

Step back.
Adjust balance.
Check spacing around hardware.

The goal is movement without overcrowding.

Once satisfied, photograph your layout for reference.

Step 5 | Glue Appliqués in Place

Use a thick multi-surface adhesive.

Apply generously but avoid overflow.
Allow glue to set on the resin piece for 5–7 minutes before placement.

This creates stronger initial tack and prevents sliding — especially on vertical surfaces.

Work horizontally when possible.

Allow full cure before painting.

Step 6 | Paint for a Seamless Finish

For the Enchantment-inspired look, choose a high-quality cabinet or alkyd paint.

Benefits:

  • Self-leveling
  • Durable
  • No topcoat required

Spraying delivers the smoothest result over dimensional surfaces.

Thin paint properly according to sprayer instructions to avoid texture inconsistencies.

Allow full cure.

The Result

The finished Anthropologie dresser dupe captures the layered botanical softness of the original — with slightly more Old World character and entirely custom hardware.

Same drama.
Fraction of the price.
Completely bespoke.
